It was close! DO NOT use this dish with baby turtles! The dish itself is nice and strong enough, but it also almost killed my 1 year old box turtle. She stretched her head over the water. t, she would have drowned, rain on the plate, and she would have been dead if I hadn't gone home. Just remember that there are few straight edges in nature. She fell headfirst in or out of the plate.
