We have very high iron levels in our area and I drink a lot of water. I tried these and will not buy them again. A true 0.5 micron filter will significantly restrict water flow. The flow of this filter is too high, as if you just opened a faucet. I got curious and pulled out my water tester. I did 5 tests between faucet and filter. My tap water went through 2 whole house 10 micron filters, a UV lamp and a large fabric softener. The TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) at the outlet of the faucet averaged 153 PPM. The average TDS coming out of this filter was a constant 164 ppm. Not only does this filter not filter anything, it adds some particles (yes, I flushed the filter within 10 minutes of installing it). Also, the test was conducted 1 month after initial installation, so the filter should be fully flushed by that time. As I bought 3 of these, in case of internal damage I will try another one. However, I inspected the filter prior to installation and found no external signs of damage. Well I guess you get what you pay for. I will go back and buy a real 0.5 micron filter.
