Time will tell if it will rust. It was the perfect size for our Tahoe. Exhaust pipe heater depends on where your exhaust pipe is located on your vehicle. My Tahoe exhaust exits on the right side behind the right rear wheel. My 4x4 Tahoe never bottomed out, but we pulled in and out of the parking lot carefully. We bought 6 inch oval LED lights to plug into our Tahoe's wiring harness. We had to buy oval metal brackets to attach the lanterns. We also bought ratchet straps, a luggage bag, a cable lock for the hitch, and a roll of "reflective tape.” We need to put a glowing license plate on because some people report getting tickets for their bike racks partially covering the brake lights and tail lights and also hides the label. So this carrier will hide the lights and label more. Some can handle it and some can't. We've also read that other cars have crashed into the sides of the vehicle as they also cut it close, and the insurance companies have refused to pay compensation due to the lack of reflective lights. Most laws dictate whether or not you need a light. I think this car and my hitch were still a few inches shorter than my state's legal limit, but I wanted to be sure.
