I only needed the hoses, silicone connectors and clamps from the kit as I intended to keep my factory airbox. I'm not a fan of these open element designs as they allow hot air from the engine bay into the intake tract which reduces performance. The factory air chamber is sealed to the inner wing, behind which is a baffle. I simply cut out the bottom of the air intake behind the headlight and parking light housings where the engine can draw in even more cold air and increase the capacity of the airbox. The factory style air filter is huge and provides plenty of airflow, eliminating the need for a cone filter with this kit. The 4-inch intake pipe and large 90° throttle body bend radius provide certain airflow advantages over a standard configuration. All I had to do was cut a piece of tubing at the end of the throttle body to make it work with the factory airbox. The increase in performance is VERY noticeable. My tires howl when they try to hit the pavement, which the truck hasn't done before. There is noticeable acceleration even at motorway speeds. The howl at the intake is only present when you press the gas pedal hard. With normal throttling, the intake noise is zero. I'm very happy with the performance increase I got with this kit. My cons: my intake manifold was dented and scratched, and the screw-on clamps are the cheapest clamps I've seen (not worth the material they're made of). made of).
