Review on πŸ“· Samyang SYIO3514-E AF 35mm f/1.4 Full Frame Lens for Sony FE Mount - Auto Focus, Wide Angle, Black by Jake Hill

Poor design ergonomics prevent optically superior lens

I really wanted to like this lens. The Samyang/Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 was the crown jewel of the Nikon system for me, and the early reviews of this lens were very positive, so I gritted my teeth. I found my specimen extremely sharp and the focus quiet and precise. However, the ergonomics of the lens are terrible. I have large but not huge hands and this lens was impossible to hold - the frame tapers too close to the mount and pinches fingers and cuts my knuckles when held. It's a shame as a small design change would have turned this from a returned item to a downright fantastic lens. If they released identical lenses that were gradually tapered, I would order them today at the suggested retail price.
