Not very good AF for lens

I gave 2 stars because the lens is like a tank. Super strong but very heavy. As others have said, AF is pretty loud. It really doesn't bother me as much as the tracking. This lens tries to track your subject but just doesn't live up to the standards I set for the lens. AF hits or misses sometimes not at all and it's not as sharp as my 50mm 1.8 and for some reason the 1.4 here has more grain at the same ISO as my 1.8. I have returned this lens and am waiting for a refund. I'm only saving for Art

Poor design ergonomics prevent optically superior lens

I really wanted to like this lens. The Samyang/Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 was the crown jewel of the Nikon system for me, and the early reviews of this lens were very positive, so I gritted my teeth. I found my specimen extremely sharp and the focus quiet and precise. However, the ergonomics of the lens are terrible. I have large but not huge hands and this lens was impossible to hold - the frame tapers too close to the mount and pinches fingers and cuts my knuckles when held. It's a shame as a small…

Stops working after a month!

I bought lenses for my Sony A7iii and loved them for a month! The quality was amazing and I was able to take some really good videos/photos. One day the lens started clicking when connected to my a7iii and it stopped working. I have friends with a7iiis and I have tried fitting a lens to their cameras and am having the same problem. I even bought a Samyang Emount to update the firmware and still no luck. Unfortunately, my Amazon warranty has expired so I can no longer get my money back, so I'm…

Outstanding image quality; decent autofocus after firmware update.

Great lens for the price. I definitely recommend getting a Lens Station to update the firmware to the latest version and also set the manual focus ring to "fast". I also noticed a slight improvement after setting the punt setting to 0. I've tried Samyang's 35mm f1.8 and although the weight is significantly lighter, the autofocus is slightly better; but the image quality of f1.4 is outstanding, the bokeh is excellent and the low-light performance definitely stands out and seems to let in more…

Ideal for photos, but also for videos.

I really like this lens. Been using it for a while now and wanted to wait before writing a review. Now that I've had some time to experience it, I have a feeling the autofocus isn't as good as some YouTube reviewers are saying. At least for videos. hunt a lot! I'm shooting with a Sony a7iii and in video mode it will focus and blur while the focus point is already set. I'm not entirely comfortable shooting a video for a client because I'm never sure when that lens will start to blur. I asked the

A broken lens arrived from a used Revain store

After doing a little research on the fast 35mm lens I was keen to try this lens. I wanted to save some money and didn't mind the cosmetic issues and ordered a used one from Revain stock. The lens I received does not focus properly, gets stuck at infinity and makes a faint crackle when in AF-C mode. When stuck at infinity, it made a clicking sound every time the shutter button was half-pressed. I managed to get some critical shots, flipping the focus ring to almost snap it out of infinity after…
