I bought this design and HWK design for comparison. Basically they are the same, but this one is cheaper. The main differences are that they have fewer pockets and the ventilation openings are closed with a flap instead of a waterproof zipper. I found the size XL to be tight in the shoulders and front of the neck, so I will order XXL. . I measured right at the top of the listed range for this size. But I'm tall, so sometimes size charts don't work. Unfortunately, this means the torso is getting huge for me to add in the shoulders. I find the balaclava almost stupid, since there is practically no insulation in it. I don't understand why they didn't use thicker material. However, this makes it a little warmer. The pads in this case warped less when folded in the pack than the HWK, but that's arguably luckier than anything else. You'll need to remove the pads for storage and transportation so they don't break into weird shapes. However, over time, they should relax and return to normal. The general build quality is good for the price. Of course there are better ones, but they are much more expensive.
