Review on Herm Sprenger 2 25Mm Training Collar by Runbi Alvarez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An excellent collar choice even for large dogs; Smaller prongs provide a better fit and more effective collar

I originally bought the large Herm Sprenger 3.25mm collar for my 6 month old German Shepherd Longhair, but because the links are so large the collar will either be too big or too small as we needed. 4.5 left away. Thanks to this small collar from Herm Sprenger, I can better adapt it to my dog. Actually I only had to remove one link of the collar to fit my 50lb 6 month old German Shepherd, snug and as the links on the collar are smaller and had to be removed more links on the collar. Collar means less force is required to correct, so I find this smaller collar more effective and even softer than the larger 3.25mm collar. I will definitely continue to use this smaller HS collar even after my dog has grown and I will only keep the larger spiked collar as a temporary backup if it ever wears out or is lost. Likewise, I recommend purchasing this collar and maybe a few extra links if you have a dog larger than a 55-60 pound German Shepherd, as this collar will fit necks up to 16 inches or less without the extra links to buy; Just remember that unlike traditional collars, spiked collars should be worn very high on the neck, just below the ears: the higher the better, the less effort required to correct. I love how the black stainless steel looks on dark colored dogs and the swivel on this collar is great too. The HS swivel collars are their old "classic” models, but I really like their modern swivel models as they help keep the collars from tangling during exercise. Overall, I highly recommend this collar and would definitely buy it again. My dog trainer who trains police dogs completed me with a collar and its beautiful color. Additional small links: Herm Sprenger - 3 pack - black stainless steel spike 2.25mm / clamp / pin, additional link 50530

Pros
  • Center panel assembly which connects the serrated links on either side of the center panel and positions the serrated links towards the center panel, applying even pressure to the dog's neck
Cons
  • Not safe
