I've been a hairdresser for 12 years. I used the Andis Master as an adjustable blade hair clipper for many years and then switched to a Wahl Senior a few years ago. I've been using the Sterling 4 rechargeable for almost a month now and I love it. In fact, my senior is now tucked away in a desk drawer and likely won't be used again any time soon. I have to say that the Cordless Sterling 4 is a great all-purpose clipper. When traveling light I only take a pound sterling with a full guard crew and am very pleased with its performance. (I don't typically use it for every part of every cut in my shop; I also have and use the fully detachable Oster 76 blade.) I've never measured battery life, but I think the manufacturer's claims are probably accurate. . I found the battery lasted about half a day's work. I recently got this clipper in a St Baldrick's and completely cut 10 full hairs before the motor slowed down. Unfortunately, there's no indicator light to let you know when the battery is low. The only sign you're running out of juice is when the engine slows down. I found that this happens about 2 minutes before the clipper turns off. When the battery runs out, you can plug it in, wait a bit, and then continue cutting with the cable connected. I ended up getting two of these clippers so one charges/charges while the other is in use. If I'm cutting somewhere where an outlet is inconvenient (like at an event) it's nice to know I have an extra charge. If this is going to be your primary/only adjustable blade hair clipper and you use it for multiple haircuts a day I think it would be a good idea to get two then you can wait for the battery to die before using it recharge (fewer cycles) recharging should extend battery life) It took me a few days to get used to how light these clippers are. Now I use it for everything 000-1.5. It's also great for making flat tops and other small details without worrying about cables. I also find that the Clipper doesn't get as hot as the Senior. If this is going to be your primary/only adjustable blade hair clipper and you use it for multiple haircuts a day I think it would be a good idea to get two then you can wait until the battery is fully drained before you charge it ( fewer charge cycles extend battery life). You will also improve performance if you oil before/after each haircut. My only complaint about this clipper is that you have to send the clipper in for a battery change. Hopefully it will be a year or two before this becomes necessary. It would be nice if the battery could be replaced by the user.
