Black on Black: Hardware

I used Mapei's "black" grout with black hex tiles and the contrast was too strong for my liking. The grout turned out to be medium gray at best. After seeing another reviewer installing black hex tiles and their success with a black grout stick, I decided to give it a try. So far I'm not only very happy with the results, but also with the ease of use and the amount of ink I've been able to extract from this tool. I bought two pens but I only needed one; However, I will leave the other one to mend. Your setup may vary depending on how many grout lines you have and the size of your space. My half bath is 7.5' x 5' with 9" hex tile wall to wall. A few observations to share: Too much pressure on it. That's just the nature of the felt nozzle's friction on the coarse grout. 2.) If your grout line is less than 1/8", your nozzle will inevitably hit the tile. Just keep some damp paper towels or a rag nearby and wipe the excess off the tiles as you go. 3 .) Before using the grout pen, use a grout haze remover to remove any "fuzzy" stains or haze from the previous day 4.) I will seal the tile and grout with Grout 511 before proceeding with further cleaning . For your health!
