There are clear differences between these tiles and the Scrabble tiles. These differences may or may not be relevant to your intended purpose, so I will explain them as best I can so that each buyer can make an appropriate decision. Size is relatively unimportant as the height and width of the original Scrabble tiles varies between sets depending on the year. They were released up to 2 mm. However, these tiles are significantly thicker than all original tile variants. The original tiles are hardwood (maple it seems). These tiles are actually lighter and softer than pine or poplar. They feel less durable in the hand, they're not as polished and smooth, and the cross-cut ends are rough. The biggest difference is how the letters are printed on each tile. The original tile, regardless of color and production date, has its letter applied in such a way that you can feel the imprint in the wood and even after years of use the letters are still clearly distinguishable. These tiles have no indentation at all, the letters are screen printed on a flat surface. In the photo above, the tiles from the original sets, the oldest, are on the left, and the tiles from the game available in stores today are on the right, red tiles from individual Special Edition games. The one in the top center is from the 500 piece set here on Revain.
