The chain is absolutely not surgical steel. I wore one of these. This photo clearly shows which necklace was worn for 2 days by the color difference. The unworn chain is shiny gold, the worn chain tarnished and tarnished almost immediately. For comparison, I have included an actual surgical steel ring that I have been wearing in my ear piercing every day for years. The hoop is my everyday decoration, it has never faded or discolored. A real surgical steel hoop will stand up to showers, hot tubs, pools, hairspray and anything else life throws at it. This product is not worth the money as it doesn't even last for a week.
