We found roaches in our condo on our way south. I hate roaches so we have gone to great lengths to eradicate them including moving all of our food to airtight containers. This set cost more than we originally planned to spend, but we chose a quality set as we will be using them regularly and have limited storage space in our kitchen. We use it to store all of our dry food: rice, sugar, flour, other baking ingredients, cereal, crackers, cookies, etc. It's truly airtight so it's cockroach proof. That means I can have peace of mind pouring a bowl of cereal in the morning without doubting that there might be roach poo, or a real roach, in the food. As an added bonus, food stays fresh and crispy. Also. The moisture that causes crackers to lose their crispness once opened doesn't seem to penetrate these containers. The containers are also remarkably durable. I accidentally left a container of sugar on the running washing machine and the vibration caused the container to fall to the ground. The lid popped open and sugar was everywhere, but the container didn't even break - and it was a large container containing 5 pounds of sugar. Not even a thin crack. We like to use tall, narrow spaghetti cereal containers as they are easy to empty. We can buy some supplements of this size. Overall, having an attractive, quality set of carefully sealed food storage containers was well worth the money.
