Review on Acer CB272 Bmiprx FreeSync Technology 75Hz Monitor with Built-In Speakers by Jason Bryant

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great monitor for the price

I took two of them with me to work from my home system. I prefer running my monitors in vertical mode to make documents easier to read and I need displays that work in this orientation. These did not disappoint us. The standard stand is a solid metal base and pole that is very easy to attach. The mount is a simple VESA snap mount (optional with 100mm diameter holes). The stand can be rotated to portrait or inverted portrait mode and the monitors work well in this orientation. Fonts are crisp and the larger display and slightly lower resolution make them easy to read. The display is bright, the OSD is fairly easy to navigate once you get the hang of using the little joystick (and realize you can press it as a click action), and all the features make sense. Cons: The speakers on these are practically useless. At 100%, they're barely audible and protrude at the bottom of the screen in landscape mode. They are enabled by default and have a level of 70% even when nothing is connected. When using a display-only interface (VGA/DPort) and no audio is connected, the monitor hums or buzzes from time to time. You can turn it off in the menu, but honestly it should be off by default when no sound is connected. On one of my two monitors, the bottom right corner has a darker/bluish tint, like something is being pressed. on the screen slightly. This is a very minor defect so I'll ignore it for now and hope this isn't a sign that something is wrong with it. As mentioned in another review, the bezel doesn't reach the edge of the display, leaving about 1/4 inch on the top/sides, although the bezel is very thin. It's better than the last pair of monitors I had with 1/2" bezels all around, but it's still there. Not unexpected thanks to the review here, but disappointing nonetheless. There's also a significant color difference between the two monitors depending on which input you're using: VGA, DPort, or HDMI. If you change the input type, you actually have to rebalance the display. Not the worst, and they give you three "modes" to save color settings (probably just for that), but still annoying.
