This solved the problem. I have a dehumidifier with a separate condensate pump in an air-conditioned basement. I was afraid of what would happen if the condensate pump failed. My solution was to put the pump in a large plastic storage box and use that switch to turn off the pump and then the dehumidifier if water overflowed into the box. It takes less than 4 inches of water to activate the switch, i.e. turn on the power. Obviously you have the cord for the switch in a separate switch box with a duplex outlet that in turn plugs into a 110V outlet.
