Review on Fel Pro Es72225 Intake Manifold Bolt by Curtis Thilges

I hate that my first product review has to be negative, but so be it. The price of this Fel-Pro bolt kit was reasonable but the 4 shorter bolts are NOT SUFFICIENT to handle the torque required to repair the LIM seal despite being designed for that! When I compared them to the originals, the first thing I noticed was that they were shorter, but I used them anyway, thinking Fel-Pro knew more about these things than I did. When I started tightening one of these to the recommended 18 ft-lb it started stripping the threads in the aluminum heads because there wasn't enough thread engagement. Needless to say I took them out and reused the standard short bolts which tightened perfectly. The four longer vertical bolts from Fel-Pro turned out to be identical to the originals so I was able to use them. If you're looking to replace these bolts like me, I'd recommend getting them from GM, or at least making sure they're the same as the originals before proceeding. Otherwise you will pay for 4 screws that are too short and possibly the damage it causes.
