Fel Pro Es72225 Intake Manifold Bolt Review

Well I rebuilt my engine from the block about two months ago and it works with no problems so I don't find it such a bad product.

The four short screws are too short for the 2003 Malibu 3.1LI they were purchased for. If I knew I was going to reuse the four short ones I would save money and just reuse them all.

The screws were a bit too short and I unthreaded one hole top. My fault for not checking the length. Make sure the screws are the correct length before reassembling!

I bought these with a set of Fel-Pro pads. They were well made and thread sealant was applied. I like replacing tightened bolts on engines when I take them apart, so I needed new bolts. they did their job

I was pleased with the quick delivery. This part didn't fit directly onto the old intake bolts so I ended up using the long bolts from the kit and the old 4 external intake bolts. The heads of the old screws were smaller (10mm) while the new screws had heads (13mm).

The middle (longer) bolts worked great, but the smaller outer bolts don't go as deep into the cylinder heads as the factory bolts and mine started when tightened peeling off because they weren't gripping the threads enough, so I had no choice but to reinstall the original screws where they were tightened properly. For the record, these were installed on a 1996 Monte Carlo with a 3.1, so do yourself a favor and keep the factory bolts, but replace the 4 longer bolts as they have sealant on both…

I hate that my first product review has to be negative, but so be it. The price of this Fel-Pro bolt kit was reasonable but the 4 shorter bolts are NOT SUFFICIENT to handle the torque required to repair the LIM seal despite being designed for that! When I compared them to the originals, the first thing I noticed was that they were shorter, but I used them anyway, thinking Fel-Pro knew more about these things than I did.
