t is an infrared thermometer at a very attractive price from a reputable manufacturer. So imagine my surprise when it arrived with a factory battery and when tested showed readings that differed by about 5-10 degrees (on suitable surfaces like walls, plastic, wood, etc.). The Amprobe has a few nifty downsides: (1) Backlit LCD screen which makes reading the temperature MUCH easier in brighter rooms. (2) Amprobe has a hold feature that helps extend battery life. The hold function allows me to briefly pull the trigger (about 2 seconds) and release it. The temperature is measured, maintained and displayed on the LCD. I don't have to hold the shutter button down, which drains the battery faster. (3) Amprobe displays maximum and minimum temperatures. Holding the trigger records the maximum and minimum temperature. These temperatures can be accessed using the Min/Max button.
