I bought this as a key fob replacement for a Mazda3. It took about four tries to program, but then it worked. The programming sequence was: remove key from ignition, close all doors - open driver's door - leave open for now - put key in ignition and cycle on and off quickly three times (car doesn't actually start) - leave key in ignition (should be in the off position) - Close and open the driver's door three times - Press the lock and unlock button using the buttons on the door panel - Press the unlock button on the remote control twice - The remote control should now work. The whole thing took me less than 15 minutes. The local Mazda dealer tried to scam me by charging $300 for a new remote because it needed to be programmed! I tried this for less than $20 and viola!
