This is my first microphone purchase as I prepare to get serious about podcasting. It arrived very well packaged and on time. It was fairly easy to put together just by looking at the photo, but I wish the brochure included assembly instructions; it just focused on the plug and play bit. The mic head is well supported by the tripod when the mic is tilted slightly, but I'll have to see how it holds up over time. I was surprised that a sponge cap was included for the mic head and immediately decided to use it. I recorded samples of my speaking and singing. I tested playback output through a headset plugged directly into a microphone, as well as stereo speakers plugged into a laptop. Both are inexpensive devices, but the output was crisp and clear. I was considering another USB mic that would be close in price to this mic, but the deciding factor for me was that unlike the other, this one also has a mute button right on the mic. Mute works well too. I'm glad this was my first purchase without a big expense.
