Fits and fits new r134a cylinders with re-lockable Schraeder valve. It's not for the old style that pierced the can and then pulled out to release the coolant into the supply hose. It presses on the Schrader valve, thereby releasing the refrigerant into the hose. To close the stream, push the "plunger" back up and the shredder will close the end of the can, after which you can remove the adapter. This worked great for me after I repaired, evacuated and refilled a leak in my air conditioner. Brilliant. They sell an old adapter with a sharp plunger for an old can if you have one of those. I lost mine Good thing they redesigned the bottles and I won't waste refrigerant as the old ones always leaked and if you had to top up the system a few years later. I had to buy a new can. and only use a little, then it flows again.
