I didn't know what to expect from a portable burner but this one hit the mark. I had to buy a burner for my cabin/tiny house that I could remove from the countertop when not in use. I researched different types of burners and settled on infrared. It suggested rapid heating, but did not limit the type and size of pan used. The only part of the burner that gets hot is directly under the pot. So if the pot is smaller than the burner, only the bottom of the pot will be heated. That doesn't mean the burner doesn't heat anywhere else, but the only place of direct heating is under the pan. An added bonus is that it can be used outside on a table in warm weather so as not to add heat or humidity to a small space. I am very happy with this burner. The only downside is that there's no way to hang the burner when not in use, but that doesn't stop me from buying another one.
