Review on Heavy Historical Acrylic Paints Color Painting, Drawing & Art Supplies by Jennifer Roberts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I love the warmth that wood gives, but I hate gold.

I do not paint on canvas so I cannot consider this product for this purpose. This review is about glazing/antique cabinets/furniture. Either over paint or over an existing stain. I mixed Van Dyke Brown with a clear glaze to distress my cheap white cabinets in my previous house about 6 years ago. They came out great and made them look way more expensive than they were. My current home has 90's gold oak cabinets. I love the warmth that wood gives off, but I hate the golden color and heavy structure of oak. A few weeks ago I painted the bathroom cabinets using a drybrush technique to give them the look of medical stains and to soften the texture. I'm amazed at how they turned out! They don't even look like the same cabinets! Small things have a big impact. I still have 1/2 of the original tube left. As I plan to redo my laundry room, 3 other bathrooms and the kitchen I will most likely need to buy another tube. I love this paint!

Pros
  • Golden Heavy Body Acrylics are known to have a smooth, buttery texture
Cons
  • Doubtful
