Review on πŸ”§ Whiteside Router Bits 2306: 45-Degree Chamfer Bit with Extended 1-1/16-Inch Cutting Length by James Eledge

Perfect bevels are no longer a problem

I have been making bevels with a table saw for many years. I've used shooting boards to clean out the miters and despite all the preparation and careful maintenance, I still (sometimes) had ill-fitting miters. Insert a large 45 degree whiteside drill bit that can cut perfectly at 3/4 inch angles. True 45 degree cuts can be made with this bit and squared timber for a gap free fit. For an experienced carpenter, this attachment will help reduce production time. However, using these bits requires careful consideration of the type of wood and drilling speed. This bit is massive (maybe not as massive as some of the profiling bits, but still strong) and requires a router speed in the 12-16,000 RPM range for smooth processing. It is also necessary to use a template with this miter attachment unless you are cutting vertically rather than horizontally. I use 1/4" MDF to create the templates and it gives me the sharp edge I need. One final note: sneak up on the final cut and only remove 0.01-0.005 on the final cut , to avoid burnt edges which the glue may not accept.Hope this helps others who see this bit as a way to improve bevels.
