I had a Pampered Chef corn remover which I used mostly to make corn soup. I thought it worked well enough until I tried this OXO model which is 1000 times easier to use and a lot less messy. peel six heads in less than five minutes; a task that would have taken me three times as long, with far more chaos using my Pampered Chef tool. Not only was the OXO fast, but the trap contained most of the clutter - the kernels flew all over the place - and did a good job of removing the stray silks that stubbornly stuck to the butt after plucking. He carefully cut off the kernels without hard bits of the cob sticking to them (why I don't like using a chef's knife) and carefully moved to the last row of the cob. It was easy to hold, easy to use, and while it's one of those 'gadgets' of disposable kitchen items that I tend to avoid, it's worth the time and effort saved in a potentially messy job. It has earned its place in my kitchen cupboard.
