Handy Dandy Oxo Good Grips Corn Peeler

I've tried different corn peelers over the years and I always come back to the peeling method my dad taught on the farm years ago - a good sharp knife and watch your fingers on . This little contraption does an excellent job of separating grains (although I still go back with a butter knife and peel the cob to make sure I get what we call "corn milk"). The Oxo Good Grips Corn Stripper protects my fingers, catches the husked corn so it doesn't fly over the counter, and quickly separates the corn

Very happy with the best peelers

This was a huge time saver and I am glad I bought it. I used to use a knife but was never satisfied because I wanted whole grains. After researching different types of corn removers I settled on the OXO Good Grips because it seemed like it would be easier on my arthritic hands and I liked that the granules were mostly in there. I found it very easy to use. . To get the right angle, I had to learn a bit. Also, you have to be careful when pushing the plunger and not squeezing the scraper in your…

The best corn remover I have ever used

I had a Pampered Chef corn remover which I used mostly to make corn soup. I thought it worked well enough until I tried this OXO model which is 1000 times easier to use and a lot less messy. peel six heads in less than five minutes; a task that would have taken me three times as long, with far more chaos using my Pampered Chef tool. Not only was the OXO fast, but the trap contained most of the clutter - the kernels flew all over the place - and did a good job of removing the stray silks that…

The kernel removal tool finally works!

This is the fourth corn remover I have bought and the only one that has worked well for me. It cleans the corn well (with practice) and glides very easily. The first product I tried was a very common design with a cylindrical blade with a zigzag edge that goes all the way through the grain and was designed to scrape the grains in one go. It broke the kernels and the blade didn't fit well around the corn cob. fail. Next came a fine all stainless knife from Kuhn-Rikon, a brand I usually love…

An atypical result of the OXO brand.

I bought this corn head to hull corn for long term storage. Please understand that I am peeling hundreds of ears of corn with this. While I love everything OXO does, this brand just couldn't keep up. As for the quality, it's amazing. Sturdy construction, and the width of the wire stripper fits your hand better than, say, a smaller one. But as far as functionality goes, be careful. I cut my finger on the first batch of corn. The cut was so bad that I decided to go and get stitches. It doesn't…

Corn stripper + grain collector!

I've always liked fresh corn better than canned or frozen corn, but boiling corn on the cob in a large pot and messing with butter and food has lost its novelty. So for the past few years I've typically used a knife to slice the corn on the cob on a platter and then cook them in a small saucepan. It only takes a minute or two to cut, but the occasional bean bouncing off the counter or floor and having to be picked up is annoying. Hooray for this amazing device that not only slices but also…

Best Corn Peeler: Peeler

When it comes to peeling corn off the cob, Revane got a decent amount of money from me while trying to figure out the right method to remove the corn The piston. I've tried pretty much everything on offer here including: - With a chef's knife. This works fine, but the grains go everywhere. — Kuhn Rikon corn zipper. I scooped out the corn cobs, there wasn't enough corn, and what happened was scattered everywhere. The all-metal is difficult to handle if your hands are even slightly damp.- Fox Run
