This is the fourth corn remover I have bought and the only one that has worked well for me. It cleans the corn well (with practice) and glides very easily. The first product I tried was a very common design with a cylindrical blade with a zigzag edge that goes all the way through the grain and was designed to scrape the grains in one go. It broke the kernels and the blade didn't fit well around the corn cob. fail. Next came a fine all stainless knife from Kuhn-Rikon, a brand I usually love, with a blade not dissimilar to this Oxo but with a handle. Worked well but didn't feel sharp enough to cut grains cleanly and the edge was narrow requiring a lot of beating and halving too many grains. Next came another from Kuhn Rikon with a razor-sharp curved edge. RAZOR is hot! Worked well but my goodness you can easily cut your finger! I read the reviews and knew the danger. I thought, 'Pfft, these are kids. Just be careful!'" While I know this thing is dangerous, I've cut meat more than once. Works well, but difficult to control and requires cut-resistant gloves. Finally Oxi. Works great, takes most of the Maises and leaves the corn on the cob. Quick and easy and catches the kernels. Goes in the dishwasher.
