I've tried different corn peelers over the years and I always come back to the peeling method my dad taught on the farm years ago - a good sharp knife and watch your fingers on . This little contraption does an excellent job of separating grains (although I still go back with a butter knife and peel the cob to make sure I get what we call "corn milk"). The Oxo Good Grips Corn Stripper protects my fingers, catches the husked corn so it doesn't fly over the counter, and quickly separates the corn from the cob. Since you can now buy pre-husked corn at most major grocery stores, all you need to do before using this stripper is to remove the remaining silky tissue from the corn. If you're cooking corn for canning or freezing, this is a great little gadget that will definitely cut down on cook timeโand it doesn't take up a lot of space in your gadget storage.
