Review on Recoil SL1708 Under Seat Amplified Subwoofer by Bobby Cantu

Looks like I'm the first to review this product. 8" subwoofer with recoil amplifier. I have a Pioneer deck with aftermarket speakers pulling the deck's power, so I was looking for a low profile and compact subwoofer with an amplifier to fill the low frequencies in my van. I used to have a Rockville in a previous van so I wanted to try something different and not go broke. The round shape of this sub caught my eye, it's about 9 inches wide by 3 inches tall, super compact but it has some weight (weighs about 10 pounds). Looks like a robot vacuum cleaner haha! The sub was listed for sale at Revain for $90 because I decided to try it, it arrived the next day with Prime. The amplifier wiring kit comes with EXCEPT RCA cables if you install it via the low-level input. Luckily I had a spare kit at home so I didn't have to buy another RCA kit. Furnishings were standard. Remote subwoofer volume control* which I have not used. I chose to install it under the passenger seat. It's so compact it's almost invisible. The subwoofer has a gain level, a bass boost level and an adjustable crossover from 40Hz to 150Hz. The cabinet is held in place with metal braces that you screw into the carpet and then the included double-sided Velcro to the cabinet and braces attach. Or in my case, I just taped the velcro directly to the carpet, and the base goes nowhere (no need to screw it). The sound is more than decent for a subwoofer of this size, keep in mind that this is only an 8 inch woofer. DISCLAIMER - If you're looking for bass rattle in the windows this sub isn't for you, maybe look at a 12 or 15 with more amp power. I don't know about the quality of the amp's internal components, but it is a Class A/B amp and is rated at 120W RMS. I'm pleasantly surprised by the bass it can deliver. The best part is the size and how discreetly you can fit it in your car. For me it was a good buy for the price and value of the product.
