I have been a huge Cuisinart fan for decades and have owned many of their products, I believe in the principle of 'buy well, buy once'. That was until I came across their customer service. The clutch fell off the driveshaft, and the result was a cocktail of frozen berries, bananas, and milk. This happened after a few months of limited usage. When I first opened the package I could see that this would be the part that would eventually fail, it has a lot of strain on it's design but assumed it would be easy to replace. The manual isn't broken down by part number so I called CS to order a new part hoping it would be free as it's 5 months old which pretty much matches the 3 year warranty. I have been told repeatedly that this is not a replacement part and must be returned for repair. The clutch itself is cast on a brass sleeve (ABS), where it was separated. Since it wasn't interchangeable, I assumed (again) that the brass collar was part of the driveshaft. Rather than opening it to check, I agreed to the service and was told I would receive a shipping label within 2-3 days. I'll see if I can buy the part somewhere else. Well, the first hit was of course Revain. Revain sells both OEM parts and about a dozen other knockoffs for between $5 and $12. So in two days I'll have a working $150 blender again, not really thanks to Cuisinart, despite Cuisinart's efforts to discourage me from using it. You will need a Phillips and Visegrips screwdriver to replace the clutch if you need to order that as well. Nevertheless, I like the device. A lot of.
