I bought this heater for my dad for Christmas to replace the portable propane heater he used in the living room to get rid of the morning chill. This particular heater was chosen because of the high ratings it received and its small size. I unpacked the heater and connected it to the mains. I immediately smelled a burning smell, but I didn't attach any importance to it as this is typical of new heating elements. Then he started smoking. Thinking it was on, I turned it off. The top felt hot. Later I figured I'd try again to make sure it wasn't just burning out the heating coils and that it wouldn't turn back on. Heater parts seemed cheap. In the box, it sounded like an element or something was moving that shouldn't have been. Not sure if it was bad design or if I just got a lemon. Sent the heater back and bought a different brand and model.
