Review on NiteRider Lumina Micro 650: USB Rechargeable Bike Light for Enhanced Safety & Visibility in Road Cycling Adventures by Jeff Kern

Daily commuter in Portland, Oregon

No, this lamp does not light the road - it is not intended to. Designed for use in urban environments where a little extra front lighting is needed, or to supplement a more powerful light when used on trails or on darker rides. I use this flashlight for daylight and as a supplement to the NiteRider 650 after dark. I have several sections of the trail where it's very dark when it's cloudy and rainy, so the extra brightness this little flashlight produces helps me spot obstacles along the way. If you intend to use this as your exclusive front turn signal light, I think it's way too bright for nighttime use unless it's on the steering wheel and pointing down and out of the way. Direct transmission of this signal into the lane of oncoming motorists can be dangerous. Mounting on the handlebars is convenient because you can rotate the lamp from side to side. Speaking of handlebar mounts, the IMO NiteRider offers the best on the market. I tried almost all manufacturers, I couldn't find a better one. Reliable, doesn't rattle (much - my 7 year old NiteRider 650 is starting to wobble a bit) and the stainless steel parts don't rust.
