Review on Revolutionary SpeedPlay Ultra Light ๐Ÿš€ Action Walkable Cleats: Enhancing Speed and Comfort by Terry Reed

Comfortable, durable, walkable, easy on my knees

I'm a light person and these boots are quick and easy to put on and take off. At intersections on group rides, where people are looking down trying to grab their pedals and making loud clicks trying to find and secure them, I'm already hurtling forward, my foot locking in effortlessly and looking for traffic. My arthritic knees love the sideways slide and I can sometimes "go in" easily when I want to maximize my aerodynamics, or when riding upwind or to stretch my side ligaments. My knees don't tire as easily in this system as they do when they're more "locked" in a single position in other systems. The Speedplay system also has the smallest pedal profile I've come across and I can corner without scratching the bottom pedal compared to other pedals. When I'm not sitting on the bike I can walk safely and don't scratch the ground, only the plastic is in contact with the ground and the rounded areas make it easier to walk. I don't have much of a problem walking on mud or gravel at rest stops, but I do wear pads just in case. I use them on my gravel bike although some people say the gravel gets stuck in there, I think I'm pretty light and have good balance, I find them easy to clean if a pebble gets in, I just toss it in a way . Only once during a trip did I have to grab a stick or paperclip to get a pebble. I've put over 20,000 miles on it in over 5 years and still have the same ones. I use lube, but not as often as I should. If you ride in the rain or puddles, dry them off and apply some lube before tossing the shoes in your bag or car, and forget about them after a shower or a long drive home as you might get a little rust still works great. I love the speedplay with these spikes and my body thanks me for every ride. The only downside is that I've heard they never come with power meter pedals.
