I love these things very much. Don't forget to put your coffee lids on when you stop. It also prevents additional stud wear when you put your foot down at a stop. They fit securely, although I've just ordered another pair because I lost one on my last trip. I wouldn't say there's much risk of them coming loose, but defiantly watch out for your first few rides when pulling away from a stop light or stop sign. I think after a few rides they are indeed blocked. After a full year of riding I lost mine so I feel like I got my money's worth even if I had to buy another set. In addition, their presence does not prevent you from maintaining the boots. You only need to remove them when you need to adjust/tighten/loosen the spikes or screws.
