Brilliant little lifeguards

These things are great! Having been using them to cover up my Speedplay Zeroes for over 2 months now, I can't believe I've lived without them for almost 10 years! Sooo much better than messing around with stupid coffee shop cases and losing them all the time, hitting traffic light tops and slipping. What surprised me the most is that they have never accidentally come loose, which bothered me a bit as they were really easy to install, but they are 100% reliable for 500+ miles and counting. For…

Good product. When using it for the first time, make sure it .

Bought these for my cousin after trying out a couple of his new speed games. Good product. When using for the first time, make sure they are securely fastened. One came loose the first time I used it when I stopped on gravel to photograph the highest point of my trip. But as the guide says, just look at the spots where you stopped and found. And after that I stomped on the gravel and no problem. After that, the first time I rode 100 miles, including one ride on the Century, they never fell off.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Expensive

If you have Speedplay pedals, you need them!

I love these things very much. Don't forget to put your coffee lids on when you stop. It also prevents additional stud wear when you put your foot down at a stop. They fit securely, although I've just ordered another pair because I lost one on my last trip. I wouldn't say there's much risk of them coming loose, but defiantly watch out for your first few rides when pulling away from a stop light or stop sign. I think after a few rides they are indeed blocked. After a full year of riding I lost…

Great addition to a good pedal system

Worn once. Can't say I've worn the boots down without them, but the point was to protect the boots. Looking at this product they offer a better grip on cement and asphalt than I would expect from metal. The spikes underneath still look like new. They didn't affect my ability to hook pedals and cleats together. The only thing I didn't think of before ordering is that the packaging says: helps hold loose screws. I felt a lot better not having applied Loctite when I had to adjust the spikes a bit.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket

Do not use all Speedplay Ultra Light Action Spikes.

According to the description they fit Light Action boots. Speedplay does not make boots called "Light Action" but instead makes two boots called "Ultra Light Action" and "Ultra Light Action Walkable Boots" that are essentially identical as far as the boots themselves are concerned. The Walkable comes with cleat covers and a special plate to attach them to. THESE GUARDS WILL NOT WORK WITH SPEEDPLAY WALKABLE CLEATS. Part of the problem is that Speedplay changed the shoe's name to "Ultra Light…
