I give 2 stars because they give you a second button cover and spare batteries. Out of the box, it lit up brightly when I pressed the button with my finger. But it didn't work in 2 different guns until I added enough tape (as they suggest) that it lit up just as the bolt closed. That's when I saw how badly the laser was tuned. I made a mark on the shell and was able to take it off, put it back on and tell which way the laser would be pointed. It was about 6 inches by 30 feet. It was bad. For another $10 I bought a Pink Rhino 9mm and it worked right away. I should have known better than trying to save a few bucks. On the other hand, I was able to return this one, so it wasn't a huge loss.
