I recommend reading Roger Theriault's review on this product: the first review of this adapter sorted by "best reviews". Remember that Samsung offers a number of free programs that make their devices easier to use. And don't confuse "Samsung Data Migration" with "Samsung Magician" like I did. To do this, you need a migration tool. Even after reading Roger's review a few times, I'm having trouble getting the new laptop to recognize the adapter and card. I honestly can't say what made it work. Maybe just persistence. But eventually the device recognized it and the rest was easy. I personally preferred to initialize and format the new 1TB Evo 970 Plus before removing the old M.2 SSD. It worked fine once the device was detected. No hiccups.
