This is a fantastic product that works as advertised. A few tips for best results based on my experience: 1) Use hot tap water 2) If using an extraction or carpet machine, don't make the stain as dry as possible, leave it damp or slightly damp. The enzymatic action of the cleaner works best over time. 3) For stubborn or stubborn odors or stains, follow the above steps AND place a couple of warm, damp towels on the stain overnight. Two things will happen: first, the enzymes will have more time to work, and second, the towel will "soak up" some of the stain. In every way this stuff is better than off the shelf Rug Doctor products or whatever. Highly recommended even without pets.
