We use this cable with the SUREswivel when we take corgis to the park or on a car ride. Fits perfectly for our needs. Sometimes you just don't feel like walking the leash back and forth all weekend, but you want them to be able to enjoy the great outdoors with you. We also have a 15ft leash but we prefer the 10ft leash if we want to have her with us outside but she needs a shorter leash to limit her swing and keep her out of trouble. She is 25 pounds. and usually we attach the cord to their harness. She's not the type to pull aggressively, but she gets very excited when she sees other dogs, squirrels, etc. Sometimes she instinctively runs away when this happens, but the cable is reliable and the shorter length minimizes a sharp pull back. They can get when an excited pup gets used to affection. We only use it occasionally so rust and wear was not an issue. Robust construction and safety. I trust him, but we're always with her when she's on the job, so we have a lot less to worry about malfunctioning. The metal clips are strong (and therefore a bit heavy) but suitable for medium sized dogs.
