I was having trouble connecting to Alexa. I went to the Alexa app in the Smart Home section and searched for the Alexa skill for Reolink cameras. I found it and enabled the skill to connect my camera to Alexa. Once enabled, the Alexa Skill will redirect you to the Reolink app on your phone where you will be prompted to sign in with your Reolink email address and password. It then prompts you to ask Alexa to discover new devices, which I did, but nothing at all after a few tries. For me it seemed like an impossible task. After calling Revain I was advised to make sure the camera firmware was up to date and the Revain representative also asked me to disable the skill in the Alexa app and then go back and enable it again. I did this with zero results. As recommended, I checked to see if the camera firmware was up to date, and it was. Still no results! I returned to the Reolink app to find a solution. I wanted to do this before deciding to contact Reolink as suggested by the Amazon representative. I finally found the answer in the Reolink app. In the application itself, there is a section at the top with two tabs, one called "Devices" and the second called "Cloud". Since I have two Reolink cameras, images from both cameras are always displayed there under Devices. However, when I went up and clicked on the cloud tab, I found two options, one for the cloud service available on Reolink and the other for the hands-free smart home option. When I clicked on that option, there was an explanation describing what this option does, and below that description was a button that needed to be pressed to enable the smart home feature on the Reolink camera. This button has the name of the camera, the name I gave it when I first set up the camera. When I clicked it and turned it on, I was surprised when Alexa immediately announced that she had discovered the camera. It was nice because I didn't have to go back and do it all over again, I just pushed one button and everything worked great. Since I have a Fire Box, I can tell Alexa to immediately display my new camera image on the big screen TV. It's just perfect for me, I'm thrilled. It wasn't easy, but I took the time to find out. In the Alexa app, you can easily see that Reolink's skill star rating is low, only two stars, precisely because of this issue. You must enable this skill in the Alexa app, but then you must also enable the skill in the Reolink app as described above. If you don't do this, the two devices will never find each other and cannot truly be "hands-free"! Once you figure out how easy it is! Alexa does all the work. Now when I'm watching TV and I hear noises outside, I can just tell Alexa to go to one camera or another and the picture pops up on my TV, I don't have to fumble for my phone and limit myself. only to the Reolink app. It is so beautiful! I love it!
