I had a ticking noise coming and going on my 2013 Ford Focus. Direct injection engines tick more frequently than most cars in this care, but the ticks I heard were louder than typical engine ticks and came and went while normal engine ticks are constant. I found this part in the engine bay and confirmed that it was the culprit. If you unplug the flush valve electrical connector on your car and the ticking stops, you'll know what's going on. The new breather valve arrived faster than expected and was actually a genuine Ford part (manufactured by Bosch in Mexico). I suggest looking at how to work with the plastic clips on the ports before attempting to remove the old purge valve. The connector at the back of the engine bay is easy to remove but getting to the front is very difficult but possible. After the replacement, the tick disappeared, and the car began to work more smoothly. A good product.
