Installing Windows 10

The instructions and the CD that came with it were for Windows 8. For Windows 10 you have to do things a little differently. You should definitely not use the CD as it contains outdated software. Other reviewers have said you have to go into the BIOS to disable onboard audio, but I found this unnecessary and it's best not to go into the BIOS. You can turn off the built-in sound from the control panel. I also wanted the audio jacks on the front of my computer to work (they were plugged into the motherboard). Here's what I did for a seamless install: 1. Disable the onboard audio: Control Panel Device Manager Sound, Video and Game Controllers High Definition Audio Driver Disconnect device Yes OK2. Check the red X on the sound icon in the bottom right corner of the screen to ensure the built-in sound is disabled3. Turn off the computer. Turn off the computer. Press the start button to discharge the remaining charge in the power supply4. Remove the computer cover. Ground the chassis5. Locate the front panel audio cable and disconnect it from the motherboard (the connector should be labeled Audio on the motherboard). Make sure the audio cable connector matches the connector on top of the sound card6. Install the sound card in the free PCIe slot on the motherboard. Plug the front panel audio cable into the connector on top of the sound card7. Close the computer lid. Reconnect the computer to the power supply8. Turn on your computer. The red cross on the sound icon in the lower right corner of the screen should disappear. Go to Creative.com and locate Audigy Rx downloads. Download the full software package (including the latest drivers). Install the software. Pay attention to the tone
