The Waring WCT702 commercial toaster I ordered arrived today, replacing an almost identical Cuisinart I was given as a gift about 10 years ago and which just recently died. Apparently, Cuisinart is now Waring. After reading numerous reviews of uneven toasting, knowing the mechanics, and having my own handyman service, the first thing I did was hook it up to the kitchen counter, turn off a bunch of kitchen lights, and flick the lever to see if all Elements lit up and burned out a new smell. . Doing this in the dark will give you a good idea of how the elements work. In the middle part, the elements are not very even, it seems that some of them are hidden behind a metal separator, resulting in uneven browning. Very disappointed to see this but found an uneven tanning issue. Testing the toaster in a dark place shows the heating elements are not working/hidden. I do not accept this after paying over $100 and will call Waring in the morning to report the problem. I'll edit this review when I get a response from Waring and hopefully add more stars. Follow-up: I returned the unit and opted for a replacement, then canceled after learning it would be a month before I could get a replacement. It turns out Waring makes the "Restaurant" model and Cuisinart makes the lighter home model. I probably won't buy this model again, for what they charge for this device I expect perfection.
