I am very happy that I bought it. I use them for clay so can't comment on their durability with leather but they are exactly what I was looking for. The variety of shapes and sizes is amazing! Others have noticed deposits on them, and I have (it's not black or dark, it's almost clear), but it's a machining oil and it's useful for preventing rust and corrosion, among other things. Rather than risk future damage by washing away all the protective oils, I just dry my fingers after using them.
