Review on πŸ“» Enhance Communication on the Go with the AnyTone AT-778UV Dual Band Transceiver Mobile Radio VHF/UHF Ham Radio for Car Vehicle by Mark Gancio

Complex programming, no Twitter support. Don't waste time and money programming.

This at778UV from Anytone looks just like :1. RT95 by Retevis2. DBR2500 by Midland3. CRT Micron I searched and tested for three hours to find the right version of the interface software and driver. Runs Windows 7 Pro and Prolific PL2303 chip in the cable. I found the programming software version 1.0.0 and the Prolific Driver PL2303 version 3.2.0.0 USB TO SERIAL PORT (on COM port 3). it's so confusing that I'm not even sure what I'm telling you here. Any ham radio company that "doesn't support" easy programming with chirp files or spreadsheets is not suitable for cellular. Why a radio station with over 200 channels without simple programming from the repeater directory database? They must include a programming cable and access to the programming software through Chirp. The transmission tone is weak judging by the comments of other well-known radio amateurs. Received audio exhibits severe distortion at all volume levels on both the radio speaker and microphone speaker. Programming software if they ever get a tweet or a #1 version that works with copying and pasting data from a spreadsheet I would consider keeping this radio. Only difficult direct entry. No cut and paste, no chirp, no spreadsheet import. I'm not here to criticize Anytone, but the effort that goes into programming this radio makes it a garage radio at best. I used it once in an RV and then removed it because it was just quirky and full of weird issues. The transmit frequency programmed into the radio did not always match the transmit frequency read from the computer programming files. I had to correct inconsistencies on the radio. endless whims. This may seem like a huge plus for a new ham radio operator, but stop and think about how in an emergency we may have to struggle to hear their low pitched pitch, or how negative comments affect their radio enjoyment and desire to upgrade. Too many flaws and problems. Those of you who love a beautiful display might like the cool factor.
