Unfortunately they were needed at short notice and better alternatives were only available with slower shipping costs. Have them installed but will change soon. They're made of what appears to be very soft aluminum with a thin coat of spray/enamel paint that cracks when you start tightening things up. Friction is required to keep the front of the mount rotating, but because the surfaces are so smooth it's difficult to rely on the material to keep it from slipping.
