Review on πŸ”Œ Efficient Socket Organization: Ernst Manufacturing 13-Inch Socket Organizer with 14 3/8-Inch Twist Lock Clips in Blue - 8418 by Jose Brunson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I recommend - good in itself but EXCELLENT given the price.

For the price I think you can't beat it. Does exactly what it says. The socket holders slide off either end of the rail with just enough force to ensure it doesn't happen accidentally, but also just enough that it's not very heavy when you want it to. The decals are a great addition and have been a selling point for me for other versions of these rails. My power sockets don't have contrast labels and it was really nice to have stickers so I could quickly determine dimensions. It would be better if there were enough labels to write on both sides of the socket holders, but one side will do. Again, given the price, I'm not upset that I couldn't mark both sides. Time will tell but the rails appear solid. They bend a little, like plastic. But that is very little. With ten deep sockets, you can still lift this thing any way you want, and it won't bend, fold, or feel like it's about to break. You can put it upside down with your full weight and shake it, and it won't flex much more than if you hold it still and none of the sockets fall out. The locking feature is another nice addition to this set. They significantly reduce the carrying area compared to the hard case they come in. And on the rail, they fit in tool rolls like atlas yorktown. Most of them stay at my home while the metrics are the ones I use frequently. You can easily mix and match connectors to have one commonly used rail and then several other less used rails. Multiple color options make it easy to identify disc size or metric compared to SAE. I wish there were 6 colors so I can distinguish the metric of sae AND 1/2, 3/8 and 1/4, each with their own color set.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some problems
