Does Brilens Offer a Five Star Gift? Yes. Wrapped in the box is a card asking for an honest review and offering a five star gift. I was offered an adjustable Mnote projector. I have no need or desire for an adjustable Mnout projector, so it does NOT affect my rating. What's in the package? Projector, AV cable, HDMI cable, user manual and remote control. They are placed in a foam sleeve for safe shipping and the box comes with a comfortable handle. I don't normally read manuals, but since this projector doesn't have a manual keystone correction, I've been trying to figure out how to focus it. may or may not be in the manual, but I realized that you can focus the image by rotating the lens, so I stopped reading. However, I have found that the remote control pictured in the instructions does not look or work like the remote control you actually receive. Not so hot what's up. I don't need a manual to understand how to operate the remote control. How does the remote control work? ask interest. The power button is at the top. The next two buttons control vertical and horizontal keystone correction. The next two are for moving forward and backward when making a slide presentation. In the next row, the left button is the pause button, the right is the source button, which allows you to toggle between USB 1 and 2, HDMI and AV inputs. In the center is a large OK button, followed by a menu button on the left and a back button on the right. The last row of buttons adjusts the volume up or down or mutes the volume completely. Menu You can use the menu to make the settings. The first list of settings applies to the image. You can choose between well-known modes: Vivid, Standard or Soft, or you can choose Custom, which allows you to customize the contrast, brightness, color saturation and sharpness to your liking. Color Temperature gives you individual control over red, green, and blue for a warmer or cooler image. Or you can use the preset settings of Cool, Medium, or Warm. The aspect ratio is adjustable between 4:3, 16:9, zoom 1, zoom 2, easy scan, panorama and point-to-point ratio. Note that the scaling function only changes the image size, not the screen size. Screen size is determined by the distance you place the camera from the screen. With screen reduction, you can reduce the screen size by up to 75%. This is useful when you have positioned the projector so that the image is too large for your screen. There is an "Auto Source" setting that you can enable or disable. And then there's another feature I've never seen before that shows the temperature of the LED bulb. Mine is currently running at 52 degrees Celsius. The following list controls the audio settings. Strange, this mode is useless for me. I always connect my projectors to a 5.1 surround sound system. However, with this projector, sound modes and remote audio functions become useless. They do not affect my surround sound system in any way. It doesn't even control the volume. This isn't a huge issue for me, but something to be aware of when using external speakers. In any case, if you use projectors built into the speakers, then there are treble and bass tuning options, different sound modes including standard, music, cinema, sports, and there is also a surround sound option for SRS Tru Surround or simple only normal surround sound . Another unique mode for the budget projector is the ability to set the date and time. You can also set the time for turning the projector on and off here. There is a sleep timer option as well as an auto sleep feature that you can turn on and off. In the last menus you can set the language, adjust the keystone correction, rotate the image, update via USB and reset to factory settings. Okay, but what about the picture. Is it really 1080p? Yes Yes Yes. Now I'm excited because the previous projector I bought for $10 more claimed to be 1080p but when I set it to 137" I got a terrible screen door effect, the image looked more like 720p. It not only is definitely native 1080p. , but since it doesn't have manual keystone correction it has better throw distance. Even with the limited size of my room I can get great 1080p from about 13ft over 150". I have 2 other 1080p projectors but they are so bulky that I can hardly get more than 130". How does the picture compare to my other 1080p projectors? Glad you asked. I have one that is definitely brighter but it does has about the same brightness as the one currently priced at over $250. Colors are bright and vibrant even at 150". I don't recommend using this if you have a lot of ambient light as it will blur the image. I I can still read the text when I turn on the light in the room (two 75 watt bulbs), but the darker the room, the better the picture. Fan Noise You can hear the fan when the room is quiet, but it's not very loud and not noticeable when I'm watching a program. I currently have a computer, an atv tuner and a ps4. I use a 3-position HDMI signal switch so I can switch between devices with the push of a button. The digital channels look fantastic. My computer runs crystal clear. The PS4 outputs a 1080p signal at 60 Hz. Games run smoothly at 60 frames per second. I can watch YouTube and Netflix through the Ps4 apps as well as other streaming services. As the title says, I'm excited. reliability in the long term. I only picked it up this morning so I can only give an out of the box review.
