I had an issue with my 2007 Dodge Caliber where the check engine light was on and I couldn't figure out what it was. I examined the car and couldn't find what was wrong with it until I noticed a bad smell from the exhaust and loss of power. Well my husband and I started inspecting the shield that covers the catalytic converter on top of the engine next to the firewall and found that there is a crack just below the shield on the catalytic converter. The reason we couldn't find the problem was because the shield was hiding it. We thought the problem was with the sensor after reading the vehicle codes so we changed them first as everyone recommends changing them because it's easier and usually presents a problem. After replacing the sensors the light was still on so we finally found our problem and ordered it in place of the old catalytic converter. It was the best decision we've ever made, giving us the best fuel economy and performance. I was very satisfied and it still works great. We changed it about a year ago and I hardly ever check it anymore.
