One more update: I have tried various other models since buying this vest but none were as comfortable as this one - the dog does its duty much better than this vest as in result. So I bought another one (the red one this time, which is more visible and taken more seriously). It has endured much better than the first: it does not wear out even with daily use. I have returned to 5 stars. This is the only vest I will ever use in the future. Update: The edges of the tag fabric came loose from the piping and frayed on the second use. Unfortunately I had to deduct a star. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I would recommend this for short haired dogs; My dog's curly coat covers most of the surface of the harness, so I think her status as a working dog in training would be taken more seriously with a different style. Otherwise still a great harness: PROS - Well made harness with solid hardware, strong piping and stitching, thick nylon - Fits right (make sure you place the thin nylon webbing on top and the wide webbing under the dog - I have a bug At first I wore it backwards and thought it didn't fit) - The harness fits over my dog's head with no problems (and his head is quite large) - The dog seems comfortable in the harness. - The leash can be attached at the top (at the dog's neck) or at the front (under the dog's neck) and offers excellent control in both directions - Quick retraction in case of size problems; My account was credited immediately. CONS: Average size was too big for my dog (who is 20 inches in circumference); I ordered a medium size because it had to fit 19-28 inches and the reviewers said the suspension is too small. But your dog definitely needs to be at least 22 inches in circumference to match the average size we received. Otherwise the small size fits 15-24 inches and was perfect. short-haired animals.
